Janice & I bought a tour extension to visit Alexandria,

Six members of our main tour (all from the Seattle area) loaded into a small van and rode for three hours through checkpoints and past desert villages from Giza to the modern seaport of Alexandria.

Joining us was the driver, a security guard with an automatic weapon under his suit and our jovial tour guide for the day Akhmed.

We always had an armed guard riding with us, everywhere in Egypt...
