ALL ONE WORLD EGYPTOLOGISTS TOUR
ROYAL MUMMY ROOM
— WEDNESDAY 9 JANUARY 2008 — CAIRO, EGYPT — MODERN DAY —

We decided to part with the
200 LE ($36.78) and stare at
the three thousand year old
preserved human bodies.

It is said that, by having their flesh still on this physical plane, these beings can not move on and must hang around until their bodies fully turn to dust.

With all the people filing in, they did keep their voices hushed, making the rooms fairly quiet.

There are two different Royal Mummy rooms and we had a hard time finding the second display due to the crappy signage in the museum.

Blessed Janice did have a energetic hit on this lady, Nesikhons. (photo left)

Her mummy is one the finest examples of the art of mummification in the 21st Dynasty, the packing of the body and limbs is to a perfect level and shows none of the over packing usually seen in other mummies dating from this period.

Neskhons
21st Dynasty (~990-969 BCE dated to reign of Pinudjem II)

wife of Pinudjem II

from her coffin:
first chief of the concubines of Amen-Re
majordomo of the house of Mut the great
prophetess of Anhur-Shu, the son of Re
prophetess of Min, Horus, and Isis in Ipu
prophetess of Horus, lord of Djuef
mother of Khons the child, first one of Amen-Re
chief of noble ladies

extract of a papyrus found in her tomb:
“So has spoken Amen-Re, King of the Gods, the great mighty god who was the first to come into being: I will deify Neskhons, the daughter of Thendhout, in the West, I will deify her in the necropolis; I will cause her to receive water of the West, I will cause her to receive offerings in the necropolis....”
